- 18 - in which every German influence is eliminated. A few years are enough to destroy the achievements of centuries. In the shadow of the Luxembourg rule, which leads to the golden age of Bohemia, the Hussite elements of destruction are gathered. The national kingdom, which is now beginning, is not able to carry out the construction of the country by its own power. At the end of the four-hundred-year-old state of the Habsburgs, an anti-German revolt rages again. As a result of this development, the following facts arise: If German influence on the shaping of fate in the Sudeten region could be effective and the Bohemian duke or kingship closely leaned on the German Reich, then the Bohemians countries experienced high points of their cultural and economic development, as on the other hand their low points coincide with the epochs of Czech domination or sole domination. The lack of creative power of the Czechs in all centuries contrasts the historical development of the Sudeten countries with their simultaneous destructive effect on cultural values. In the times of German supremacy there has always been a flourishing of Czech people's life, but never a threat to their national existence. But all the epochs of Czech leadership have reduced the national acquis of Germanism in the Sudeten countries and weakened its ethnic substance.
