8-3 Knaus, For surgical treatment of Carcinoma colli uteri speaks. If I divide the 5 deaths into the Wertheim'sche and Schauta'sche operations, the former is burdened with 4 deaths to 106 and the latter with 1 death to 224 operations; this results in a primary mortality of less than 4% for Werthaus'sche, and one of only O.4% for Schauta ́sche operations. In line with this peak performance in the suppression of primary mortality, the low frequency of intra- and postoperative complications in these two major operations is consistent. In the course of 3 Schauta's operations carried out by my assistants, the bladder was opened twice, and once the left ureter was cross-separated; the bladder injuries were closed by double-row catgut seams, and the ureter immediately implanted into the bladder after removal of the uterus, resulting in smooth healings and in none of the 3 cases a urinary fist appeared. After these 209 radical operations, 5 women received training in postoperative urinary fistulas: 1 vesiko-vaginal fistula after a Wertheim operated by myself and 4 ureter fistulae after 2 of me and 2 of my Assi-steten performed Werthome's operations; from the first two a fistula spontaneously healed, in the second I had to exstirpate the associated kidney after 4 months. The last two ureter fistulas were completely remedied by transperitoneal implantation of the exposed ureter into the bladder, the one time 11 weeks, the other time 5 months after the radical surgery. The vesiko vaginal fistula was closed 3 months after its emergence by me in vaginal ways. A small rectum fistula located in the subserous room, which appeared after a Wertheim operation, which I myself performed, probably as a result of the drainage and on 16 May 1895, was destroyed.
