English Translation
Two events, which are likely to be of general interest, represent two official rallies published a few days ago. On Sunday the 26th, the "Drager Tagblatt" published an official commentary on the revision of the state federation, which, as it is literally said, is against the "fair excitement of the persons concerned" and against the courage, which is not justified by anything, that it is only a measure directed against the members of the non-aryan race. With quite a few words, the official commentary notes that this is not the case and that, on the contrary, there is no danger to the non-Aryan elements. It is significant that this comment has been almost silenced in the Czech press, obviously from the understandable desire not to invoke on the other hand in the "Breffenenen Czech Publickei", justified courage and excitement. No further comment is needed if a law, which in any case represented a harmless measure for ‘persons affected', is to undergo further weakening and dilution. However, the Czech public will do well and follow further such ‘measures' with attention. The second official announcement refers to a speech by the President of the Republic to the American people announced for March 1st. On the content of this speech, he will discuss life in the new Czecho-Slovak Republic, as well as an invitation from American press radio agencies. The events of the last few weeks, however, suggest that this ‘lecture' might have a greater meaning than perhaps a poor lecture would actually have been due to. The incitement of American Jews against National Socialist Germany is currently at its peak and it seems that, in addition to heavy guns, light artillery is also being turned into the correct realization that every weapon at hand is good enough to annihilate the opponent. The Jewish incitements were clouded by the German-American relationship for which no other, natürli reason otherwise existed. At the same time, however, the president of the Czecho-Slovak state finds it appropriate to accept an invitation from American peseta agencies to the American people, too, the political layman will easily guess the true motives, the method used is again as often as clumsy and oily as it is that no one can doubt. Such a process can be agreed with the policy of the responsible foreign minister Chvalkovský, who does not tire of preaching absolute neutrality to his fellow countrymen and a friendly commitment to the German Reich. Should it perhaps be a sign that on the government side this policy is not considered more correct? Building a relationship rather creates suspicion and distrust. In this context, it should also be noted that Mr Eduard Benesch, former President of the State, has been in tad a G.Smola for fourteen days.
