June 15, 1943, London (Czech, 8:45 p.m.): Daily news: Washington: There was an exchange of letters between President Roosevelt and President Beneš. The letter of President Benes reads: "Mr. President! After leaving the United States, I would like to express my most binding thanks to you for the very hospitable reception in your country, at the same time I express this thanks on behalf of the entire Czechoslovak people. It is a great satisfaction for me to be able to convince me of the great war effort that will be of such decisive importance for the liberation of the Czechoslovak people. I wish you all the best in your great work." President Roosevelt sent the following answer to President Beneš: "Have the kindness to receive my greatest thanks for your message that you addressed to me following your visit to the United States. I am convinced that your visit at this very time was very fruitful, since we were able to speak out about the objective of our struggle, which we are fighting through together, whose ultimate goal is an unconditional surrender of the Axis powers. I will always keep a pleasant memory of your visit, which was so fruitful and beneficial. I wish you great success in your strenuous work on the liberation of Czechoslovakia and on the return and consolidation of peace in your country." R.
