- 3 60 for the connection. Also the attitude of N.s to the problems of the present and the future arises from his world-use. It is not to be expected in the moral and character of his own firmness that he will be founded from economic activity or in the pursuit of personal success from his own principles. This assumption has proved to be correct in N.'s work since March 5, 1939. In detail: 1./ In the Jewish question, N. affirms, as he has already done in the past, for himself the demand for racial purity. With this, established in the Nuremberg laws for the entire German people, the Jewish issue is solved for him. He distinguishes decent and indecent Jews because of his noralistic views. While he wants to know the action against them as a purely criminal matter, he sees in the measures against Judaism as such, an inequity against them. 2./ In his position towards the Czechs he is guided by his exaggerated sense of justice and his Christian compassion. Therefore, he is unable to take measures that bring hardship to others. Furthermore, he considers it his duty to stand up for "emergency sufferers" of the opposing camp. 3./ His task as President of the Chamber of Commerce and Commerce would be to strengthen the German economy, which, naturally, can only be done at the expense of the Czech economy after the Jewish enterprises had been liquidated. However, as a result of his character and his worldview, he is unable to carry out these necessary measures.
