6p 41-Call. 18 May 1943. St.s.204/43. 70 1.) To the Head of the Press Department in the Foreign Office, 18. V. 1943 Mr. Ambassador Dr. Sehmidt, Berlin. dr d de e The current visit of former President Benesch as a guest of President Roosevelt to the United States is being built up in the Tachechian broadcasts of London radio in a way that, in view of the further effects of the mood among the Czech people of the Protectorate, can be expected. In order to be able to counter this effect at this point in time and to record the actual facts for further future, it seems necessary for the propagandist leadership in the Protectorate to obtain as far as possible the relevant press voices from the USA, as well as for example important press voices of the so-called foreign country about Benesch in the USA.Of particular interest are, of course, all those press optimists who somehow negatively deal with Benesch's intentions and successes. But also press releases, which merely reproduce the speeches given during the journey in the actual wording and describe the lecture of the events, are of the utmost importance, because it is to be expected that these speeches and presentations will be reproduced in the London broadcasts in an agitatory manner.
