ant Fromk Sicherheitsdienst Mff f SD-Leitsabteilung Prag 3 Nr 33/42 Prag, 17. 2. 1942. Tagesbericht (Streng confidential, only for the personal use of the recipient) I. General situation and mood: While the German population enjoys the rapid capture of Singapore by the Japanese and the successful German naval battle in the canal, the great mass of the Czechs is mainly under the impression of the courts that certain Czech years are soon being drawn up for military or labour service, as well as extensive service obligations to work in Reich. In addition, the recent press announcements about misconduct within the government police and the protectorate gendarmerie caused a general stir; support for the German intervention and claims such as that the incidents were merely an excuse to carry out further shocking changes in the protectorates' administration of intelligence, for example, were balanced. Various Czech gendar- meriabcamten showed a pronounced dismay at this publication, which had "like a cold shower" effect on the toil according to the current instructions. According to the reports available so far, the "Day of the German Police" has taken a very successful course everywhere; the donations in numerous places have reached a multiple of the results of the previous year. II. Individual precasts: + In various places, Germans recently received a leaflet with the signature "Savior of the German People", which this time deals with the leader's speech of 30.l. and the general war situation in a negative way.
