69 have not only led to an increased decimation and emigration of Germanism still in existence in 1918, but also the remaining Germanism has been strongly influenced and absorbed by the Czech environment during this period. A comparison of the German population of 1930 and the present state shows meaningful development and present situation. In the area of the OLB Pilsen, which has a population of 340,000, some 9,300 Germans were identified in the 1930 census. The actual number of Germans, however, is likely to be between 11 and 12,000, because it must be calculated that part of the German population did not know German nationality either because of its professional dependence or because of national fears. The decline of Germanism in the OLB Pilsen, which results from the figures, is entirely in line with its spatial dissipation. The organised border struggle of the Czechs has resulted in the fact that today in the whole of the OLB Pilsen there is not a single village which can be described as German with good reason.
