Towards the end of the 19th century a stronger wave of Czechization began, the success of which had a noticeable effect. At the time of the former republic, Czechisation was driven forward with all possible means and finally gave the city - seen from its German cityscape - a purely Czech imprint. The visible peak of this development reached, when in the elections to the Prague Parliament in May 1935 of the approximately 11ooo inhabitants only 14o German voters voted
