6 IV/l _ Za/Sche Prague, August 16, 1944. Minlsteran Geheim 16th AUG. 1944 Statement. Subject: Verlagsleiter Rudolf Damm,*Agrarverlagsgesellschaft Prague, here Intervention von -Sturmbannführer Backhaus. Attachments: 2 g.R. The intervention of 4-Sturmbannführers Backhaus cannot find any support according to the material available here against Damm. Damm has announced his step at Backhaus for weeks through threats. Danm will, if he is put before the task, hardly be able to prove the difficulties he asserts, which only the Department of Cultural Policy can have prepared for him. The same applies to Director-General Rudl, who, at my request, generously supported the agricultural publishing company, without which support the successes of the agricultural publishers, which Damm has booked for themselves in reports to Berlin, are unthinkable. Mr. Damm's concerns flow from other sources: his human and behavioural appearance has become the subject of a state police investigation with the result that the head of the Prague State Police Department 4-Obersturmbannführer Gerke wrote to him on 26 July. In July 1984, I requested that the dam be expelled from the Protectorate and that it be suspended from entry. I, for my part, took into consideration, for various reasons, the expulsion of the dam without any knowledge of how it was carried out at the Stapo. I would suggest not to share the politically very important statements of the dam in relation to the Reich Minister Backe with his Czech girlfriend until Reichsminister Backe should come back to the expulsion, which has now been initiated, in person.
