Sicherheitsdienst MF 4 SD-Leitsabteilung Prag Nr 44/43 Prag, den 15.4.1943 Tagesbericht (Strictly confidential, only for the personal use of the recipient) I. General situation and mood: With increasing concern the German population is following the fighting in Tunisia. In almost all discussions about this front section, the generally ruling skepgis is expressed unrepeatably. One usually speaks as if the base of Tunisia was already abandoned and lost and expects with its complete eviction, one fears only that the Anglo-American troops could succeed in preparing this time for the Axis troops a "Dün- kirchen" and to prevent large parts of the German-Italian army from shipping and to negate or imprison them. Especially in families who have members of the African Corps, fears about their fate have become loud lately (Mähr,-Ostrava). In this generally depressed and nervous mood, isolated cases are already known, where Germans consciously drop a discussion over the war situation at all-rejected over there in some respects. Various Germans (e.g.Iglau) express the wish that it would finally be time for this terrible war to come to an end, Individual Germans (pilses) who have already lost relatives in this war, show little interest in the further war events and explain eg. "If you lose a relative and now have to experience the rest of the fears and excitement, it is no wonder that all of the people are spoiled."
