JAN. 1944 To the Mr. German Minister of State for Bohemia and Moravia 4-Obergruppen leader Karl Hermann Frank Prague Entered -10 Head of Division V./44 Obergruppenführer ! Your friendly introduction to Minister Dr. Bertsch has led to a very lively and, I suppose, fruitful connection for the economy in the German ethnic groups as well as in the Protectorate. Through the in-depth knowledge of the conditions in the south-east countries, which the cooperation with the national German economic circles in the southeast brings, it is possible for me to make novel proposals to fundamental problems of German foreign trade and payments. Furthermore, the mutual connections in the war economy can be improved. I should like to point out that I am fully in agreement with Dr Adolf on this, and it is hoped that this cooperation will deepen with such direct contact with the national leaders of the economy from outside and with the German leaders in Prague. In this context, the acceptance, which is now being shown in a practical way, in particular in the matter of the Prague Kreditbank, will give a particularly favourable start. The interaction with the people's German economy still has to follow in a silent manner today, according to the existing application of the foreign policy guidelines. For this, too, I find the understanding shown to be all the more beneficial, because it is in line with the nature and principles that characterize the economic process in Bohemia and Moravia. 4-Upper Group Leader Lorenz, to whom I have reported, St. x7-60a/43 C-1448
