English Translation

In the third quarter and in particular in the fourth quarter of I940, it was noted that the U quota allocated by the supervising body to the central bank was insufficient, and that, for the most part, it had to cover the need for ore, i.e. the need for iron, which is a component of the ores of those 2l economic groups. This is in particular band iron for casts, wire, nails, for example iron for cement products, iron for metal playing wares, etc. This demand for iron was actually to be met by purchasing on the free market, whereas in reality, ice in sufficient quantities is no longer available on the open market, and therefore the monitoring body was forced to agree that this production requirement for iron would be met at least partially from the U quota. The procurement of new machimes also imposes a burden on the U-continent, although this was not originally intended for this purpose. In some exceptional cases, the supervising body granted an extraordinary quota for the purchase of new machinery, but in recent times it has refused to make any extraordinary allocations, noting that they were to be covered by our U-contingent. As a result, we were in III. and IV. We are, however, concerned for the future that this extraordinary need for iron will not increase further, especially for the reason that iron is almost dwindling for production purposes. If this is docked out of the U-contingent, it is sufficient that our quota is absolutely non-existent, that it is increased by the most watchful 00 tons quarter-year.
