This national and Volkische community is the real sovereign people. This sovereign people is the master of all its members, everything shall be sacrificed to him, everyone shall live there, all shall serve him, every young interpreter shall only inspire himself in it, shall prepare himself in all simplicity, devotion and impersonality, in his life only to do what serves this "popular union", its living, growth and its expansion, its good functioning. He should live in these spirits like the youth austerity in antiquity. Thus, the National Socialist system comes to grips with social authority. We have seen that for fascism the sovereign state, which identified with the people, was the cue of all authority; but the first and original factor in the formation of social authority is the state, not the people. In the case of National Socialism, the process is another, to a certain extent wrong - the state becomes only the second-ranking factor; in the first place is the people, its national community, and the state is only the framework in which the people live, develops. The state is the adapted, variable, expanded or smaller tool, the people of the original, only permanent, unminored, to its expansion, its governance, culture, maoht - however, by mediation of the state.
