216.) All these realizations, but in a nutshell, the backward criticism and the insidious and lying party agitation cause large parts of the public to begin to regard all public work and all ideals as pretended, conceived, hypocritical. The popular classes lose faith in the truth, do- good and honor and have the tendency to condemn all parties and politics without distinction The idealisms disappears with one blow from public life. No one is believed and the generalizing judgment is passed on good and bad politicians: they are all the same. Everywhere one sees only lies and deceit; one does not appreciate true merits, does not understand unselfishness, and maritality is held unpossibly in public life. Unbearable conditions arise, people who are legitimate representatives of political, economic, cultural, scientific and artistic national life, entangled in personal enmity, aliens soothe each other and evade the collaboration. In communities and districts, personal cliques are formed which aim to destroy what the opponent has set up. There is a crumbling of the whole national body, which is engulfed by constant oppositions and partyliohe and personal prejudices. The people are shattered and dismembered by the fact that in its interior many others hate each other and are hard-naked and passionate about each other.
