This biologism and vitalism of purely modern pragmatism, combined with a primitively conceived and ma- terialistically underbuilt evolutionism, is at the same time a metaphysical materialism of its kind; for by accepting the struggle as the principle of the entire social devolution, it necessarily comes to the conclusion of the nhysical struggle in which the spiritual forces are only a tool of physical power and physical violence. The logical feature of these philosophical and metaphysical preconditions is that the humanistic indivi- duality is determined, oharacterized and conditioned only by those sides which, in a particularly characteristic way, fit precisely the dynamicism, relativism, animal biologism and vitalism, and which in their primi- tative fbrmen more closely with metaphysisoh materialism.
