It is less bearable today than ever that the entire positive work of the press alone lies on the shoulders of less meritorious principal writers and other politically active writers. For all those who have done their duty and continue to do so, there is no reason to worry or nervousness. It is of course also known to the German Minister of State that errors may occur occasionally due to actual error or other general human reasons. In the assessment of such events, the overall political attitude of the persons concerned is examined and taken into account in the most precise way according to the principles of justice. Therefore, no one in the future seeks to avoid responsibility by explaining that he does not feel able to do his own work and decision in view of the sharp handling of the provisions. It is clear that there will be a clear distinction between horrendous accidents and acts of proven malice. But those who do not intend to pay attention to this appeal should say the following: In the event of a Bolshevik victory, that they save themselves from persecution with their anti-rich behavior is, according to all the experiences of Europe, highly questionable with Bolshevism; but that they have to reckon with the reckless persecution of their actions by the existing power of the empire, that is certain.
