4612 St.M. V E - 314/44 g.Rs. Prague, 13 September 1944. 2% FS: (After entering to treat as 'secret Reichssachen'!) Personally! Self-handed! To the Reichsführer-4, B e r l i n SW 11, Prinz Albrecht Straße 8. Reichsfahrer ! The effects of the military and political situation in Slovakia on the Protectorate prompt me to make the following statement and then ask: The emergence and progression of the uprising in Slovakia are not least due to a misrepresentation of the Slovakian overall situation by the German embassy (Gesandter Ludin and Gesandtschaftsrat Gmelin). The envoy was surprised by the facts and did not want to see them. Ludin and his staff cannot be expected to change their political view in the event of the envoys' appointment to leading Slovak circles, apparently also influenced by previous social ties, and there is a risk that the most serious political pehler will continue to be made. On the one hand, 4-Obergruppenführer Berger must have a suitable political advisor with well-known knowledge, on the other hand, for foreign policy reasons, the German delegation to the Slovak government is to be maintained.
