STATE SECRETARY FOR THE RUSSIAN PROTECTOR IN THINGS AND IN MORAVA, PRAGUE, inv. 1475, sig. 109-4/1229
English Translation
15 14 - I would like to say the following about the future design of the savings bank and Girozentralen- work: 1./ The summary of all savings banks of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in an association and in a central bank has proved itself. In the beginning of my work there were efforts to form an independent savings bank organization for Moravia. I have resisted this, because such fragmentation of savings bank work is detrimental, and rational reasons for bringing it together. If national political reasons were to lead to a different satisfaction of the Moravian population, the savings bank norga- nization could nevertheless remain in its present form, because in the committees of the savings banks association and the central bank there are and would remain sufficient representatives of Moravia in the future. Also in the Reich some savings bank associations and Girozentralen extend over 2, partly. 2./ A merger of the central bank with the Landesbank during the war is not expedient. In addition, the central banks need a long time to build up and organize their big tasks. An immediate merger would be harmful to the savings bank's work here. S1O81 E Summary. I have tried not only to give a report on my activities but also to address a number of current questions concerning savings bank work in the Protectorate. I am aware that, during my relatively short time in Prague, only part of the most important questions have been resolved. However, I can say with satisfaction that the Reichsprotektor has recognized that the technical introduction of the spergiro transport took place in the shortest possible time and that the central bank was reorganized according to the requirements of the large German economic policy. In his letter, Mr Reichsprotektor stressed that I represented the special interests of the individual savings banks and also within the organization of the association.
