6a Excerpt from the minutes of the 9th meeting of the Central Economic Staff on 21 March 1944. Demand for forces of industry: Dr. B e r t s e h w is interested in the great vision of the acquisition of additional workers and explains that no more than 4 ooo forces can be made available to the inspection of equipment during the luid month. This, too, can only be achieved by allowing a very severe combing of the trade and trade to be carried out once more in addition to the previous measures. However, one should not promise much of this, especially since the trade with war-important productions is increasingly being taken into consideration and will continue to be used to some extent in the future for the supply of two kinds of equipment. Some 5l.ooo relatives had been covered by this action so far, namely 27 ooo male and 24 o00 female Krlifte. In the immediate programme within the Protectorate, about 26 ooo members of the birth year 1924 had been used so far; to re-train in the rest of the Reich area some 25 ooo forces of this year have been transferred to the present day. It has not been possible to record about 5 ooo krifte so far, despite the fact that police resources have been used to a large extent. It will now be agreed with the BaS to record this residue by all means. Additional workers could only be provided noeh for the tank fighter program according to the given allowance, provided that the larger part of this requirement - as indicated by the armaments injection at the time - has to be met only in the second half of the year 1944 and that no further programmes with additional force requirements for Bohemia and Moravia are laid down. The workers for the tank hunters' programme were all but to be won by rigorous closures in a number of economic sectors, especially in the textile and clothing industry. 1N7E 30103
