The export of meat exceeded the quantity envisaged for this period by about 23%. Compared with the same half-year of the 1942/43 marketing year, dię exports increased to 2l7%. The problems of transport caused the slaughterhouses to salt a large part of the pigs slaughtered for Germany and to store them at first. Salt consumption has increased in such a way that some of the problems of procurement have arisen. Unfortunately, there was no increase in the production of canned foods, as the necessary canned material was not available in time. Butter deliveries reached the quantities scheduled at the beginning of the economic year. Compared with the same period of the previous year, about 7% of the butter was exported, the greater production is explained by the fact that the cows had been on the pasture for a very long time in autumn l943 and by the more hay available for winter feeding than in previous years. Horse exports are also very good. Compared to the same period of the previous year, about 63% more horses were exported to Germany. Purchases have been reduced in recent times, as the agriculture itself has a large need for workhorses for the spring order. Exports of klec, grass and feldfuttorsaten could be increased again. In total, exports of the seeds in question are now 14% higher than in the same period of the previous year. Although the weather in February/March is particularly slow, exports to fish are considered to be good; exports are roughly the same as in the previous period. All in all, therefore, food supply from Denmark has developed remarkably well.
